Hot Mic'd: The turtle announces retirement & Kristin Cavallari launches new BF
"...did attend in 2019 a private religious Christian Identity Cross lighting ceremony falsely described as a cross burning” – how a GOP candidate for governor in Missouri described attending a KKK cross burning in a court filing
A political plot twist that had my eyebrows up… was Mitch McConnell/the gobbler/the turtle/cockblock McConnell announcing that he’s stepping down from GOP Senate leadership in November. I really never thought I’d see the day. Now, onto the “three Johns” for who may replace him… they kind of sound like a Christian Rock band. -SK A TikTok that nearly took me outttt… was this one. Nothing like dropping a siblings or dating comment on your exes IG. RIPPPP. -SK A political happening that made me want to scream into a pillow… was Senator Hyde-Smith of Mississippi blocking Senator Duckworth of Illinois’s bill that would protect IVF federally. It’s not just that it’s insane to me from a policy and rights level, but the fact that herself and the rest of the GOP aren’t listening to their constituents that use IVF. LISTENING TO YOUR CONSTITUENTS IS LITERALLY YOUR JOB. -SK An OMG pop culture moment that caught my eye this week… was Kristin Cavallari hard launching her cradle robbing [we stan] aka new boyfriend. And they say Kim Kardashian broke the internet… -SK A tidbit worth mentioning… is that Illinois just nixed Trump from the primary ballot. Well, rather a circuit court judge did. This makes Illinois state number three in the give the man a boot from the ballot saga. -SK | A political plot twist that had my eyebrows up… was a Montana judge declaring that three of the state’s laws restricting abortion are unconstitutional. A win is a win. Where this goes from here, I’m not sure, but I’ll def be keeping an eye on it. - MM A TikTok that nearly took me outttt… is it a TikTok if it’s CSPAN’s? Right, it’s more iconic, especially when it’s this clip of Rep. Jasmine Crockett calling the GOP on their bullshit and peddling Russian lies. -MM A political happening that made me want to scream into a pillow… Oh Idk maybe the fact that the wild anti-vax crowd that came to the forefront during the pandemic spurred a larger anti-vax to all vaxes vibe… which has resulted in measles outbreaks. Nothing like diseases and sicknesses we’ve used science to prevent being tossed away for conspiracy theories. -MM An OMG pop culture moment that caught my eye this week… Jax Taylor and Brittany separating… is it for real? Is it a PR stunt for the new show that no one was going to watch [sorry!]? So many questions on this one. -MM A tidbit worth mentioning… is that a bill passed in Indiana that added more steps and hurdles for those registering to vote in the state. One part of it that caught my eye in the AP article on it was this: “the new bill would allow the state to contract with third-party vendors who supply credit data. The data would be cross referenced with voter registration records to identify possible residence changes and any voters registered at nonresidential addresses.” Like… wtf? -MM |
