When people say “hot mess” these days we’re not sure if they mean Alix Earle’s new podcast or the GOP trying to find a Speaker of the House. Classic mixup.

A read worth reading is… This article on the toxicity of synthetic turf and PFA’s, and how California just overturned a prior law that banned local governments from being able to ban synthetic turf for laws. I’m so about having more sustainable options or planting to/for the environment – if it’s a desert environment with low water availability like, people, be smart. However, as someone who spent high school getting sick after EVERY lacrosse game played on astroturf, especially when it was hot out, I feel validated by this aka there is toxic shit in here - I wasn’t being crazy that it was making me sick. Let’s find some new solutions, people. -SK

Something I’ve been sending to everyone is… This library of courses on media literacy. It’s so important to hit refresh on this, and TBH I’ve been looooving it. Like I was not a school girly pop, but this is making me miss being a student. Highly rec. -SK

And something that people should have their eyes on is… The PA State Supreme Court race and Commonwealth Court races of the fall, as well as other local positions. If I weren't subscribed to just about every PA-focused political newsletter under the sun, I don’t think I would even know it was happening. Why is this all “mums the word” vibes? Anyways, here is a great hub of info on the elections. -SK

A read worth reading is… This article on NIL law possibilities for college athletes. As a former college soccer player, this hits home to say the very least. Athletes should be able to control the use and profit made on their names and likeness, and having a national standard for that would be so helpful in making sure shit is done right no matter what state you go to school in. It appears there are a few bill drafts in play – v curious to see where any of these go. -MM

They’re working on forest conservation and restoration. So. Freakin. Cool. For whatever reason, their website is down rn, but check out the TikTok account that got me hooked in the meantime. -MM
