Hot Mic'd: Jelly Roll on the Hill, Bipartisanship, Hunter's big moment, & St. Paul's City Council
“As for this conspiracy theory, we are going to shake it off.” - Pentagon spokesperson Sabrina Singh on a Fox News conspiracy theory that the Pentagon psy-op unit pitched NATO on turning Taylor Swift into an asset
A moment that caught my eye… was Jelly Roll testifying before a Senate panel on the fent crisis and in support of the bipartisan FEND Off Fentanyl Act. His testimony was moving, and truly something everyone should put their pods on and listen to. Also, we have an upcoming episode on this topic. If you have a Q, let us know in The Gov Club. -SK A Dem that left no crumbs this week… Low key Hunter Biden just showing up at the House Oversight Committee Meeting. He really said point blank, “so you want to ask me a question? Let’s do this thing” without even uttering a word. Obvi Rep. Crockett on the matter was also fire, and Rep. Moskowitz as well. -SK A date marked in my calendar is… obvi Feb 22!! Summer House premiere. Find me glued to the screen and awaiting hot takes from Queens of Bravo. -SK A discovery I made this week was… that Picasso apparently had a wiener dog BFF named Lump. Obsessed. -SK A vibe to describe… is this in relation to Trump supporters thinking that he is comparable to Jesus…? -SK A podcast I’m tuning into is… besides ours?! ;) Jay Shetty interviewed Michelle Obama. I’m going to dive into it this weekend. -SK | A moment that caught my eye… oh, you know, just the fact that a county in Florida banned the DICTIONARY. Has anyone seen the comment sections on social these days? We all need as much spelling help as we can get…and people out here are BANNING THE DICTIONARY. If you so badly need to ‘feel something’ try therapy instead? Pick up a hobby? Or just sit down. TYSM. -MM A Dem that left no crumbs this week… Rep. Jasmine Crockett. Next question. But seriously, she plays no games, and serves it to the hypocrites cold. Exhibit A. -MM A date marked in my calendar is… March 5 for the CA primaries! Why is it SO close to now. Ah!! Anyways, fellow CA Gov’ers, take this as a reminder to check your voter registration status. -MM A discovery I made this week was… this pair of earrings. They’re now in my cart… -MM A vibe to describe… is this when a dude asks you for explanation on why you don’t want to go out with them again. -MM A podcast I’m tuning into is… Our friend, the one and only Brian Derrick dropped his podcast called Vibes Only. Of course, I’ll be tuning in and so should you. -MM |
BIPARTISANSHIP IS BACK AND CHICER THAN EVER
It has more longevity than a Chanel tweed jacket
Bipartisanship is back and we’re so freakin’ glad about it. Working across the aisle is not an easy feat and yet it’s something that members of Future Caucus do regularly. The org brings together young legislators from across the aisle and provides a space for them to talk out issues, ideas, and work together to get shit done. In today’s polarized enviro, it’s uber impressive and something we needed to get the scoop on.
Cue, our guests, VT Rep. Mary-Katherine Stone, a Democrat and VT Rep. Casey Toof, A Republican. These two guests walked us through how they work together and what strategies they implement to do so. They also provided us with perspective on how important bipartisanship is, as well as having conversations with people you may not agree with. There’s much common ground to be found, and these two guests tell the tale of how to find it. Tune in here:
ADD TO THE DMS
Makin’ there way from DM to DM
MORE of this please – all seven of St. Paul, Minnesota’s City Council members are women.
And def more of THIS – if this isn’t what happens next time we order tea…
There’s also this Bravo clip that is just awaiting its moment to shine in a political TikTok. Maybe we’ll share deats in next week’s #VIRAL.
Trump’s boo boo (okay, one of many) from last night that created perfect Dem messaging like this.
On the progress-end, these two legislators are working together to make their communities and beyond safer with a new bill.
