Hot Mic'd: E-Day victories, Tim Scott's GF, Manchin the Menace

My biggest takeaway from the GOP debate was… this is ~debatably~ not a takeaway, but more of an ‘LOL do we live in a simulation’ moment from it – Tim Scott’s ‘real girlfriend’ being revealed. Not to be a total looney, but there is just no way this is real. Who is paying her off. What’s the arrangement?!  - SK

On the escapist end of things, I’m currently watching… RHOP [Real Housewives of Potomac] and Winter House. So, RHOP is unparalleled, and that cast remains my fave. Winter House this time around is kind of…weird? Like they’re trying to make fetch happen? Or to keep it Bravo, trying to make Lisa Hochstein’s FAFO happen? - SK

A digital/social trend I’m loving this week is… I can’t get enough of these ASMR car video spoofs. The way ASMR fans probs feel watching the OG is how I feel about loling at the spoofs. Either way, I’d love for it to be applied to politics, whether a campaign makes it happen with a campaign bus or other related vehicle. Or a staffer doing it with their car that they have to use to shuffle their boss around… there’s something more there but I will need more coffee to process it… - SK

We’ve talked a ton over our 200 episodes about how important state leg races are, and to see Dems and voters as a whole get more engaged in them is so cool. The results honestly exceeded my expectations, and I’m here for it. Let’s keep that energy going for ‘24 and beyond – AND, let’s make sure that incumbent GOP state house or senate members don’t go unchallenged on the ballot. When we run, we win. - MM

On the escapist end of things, I’m currently watching… Southern Charm and cannot get enough. This season is on fire. The Olivia - Taylor Ann - Austin triangle is wild… I’m so curious to see where the friendships go, but I can’t say I’d be friends with either of them if I were Olivia…yikes. A digital/social trend I’m loving this week is…This trend feat Ms. Taylor Swift’s song highlighting things someone doesn’t have to pretend to like anymore because they are no longer speaking to the person they had to fake it for.
