Hot Mic'd: Chaos in the Cap, Girl Math, Boy Math, Botox Math, What we're buying
What timeline are we even living in these days? Is everything a fever dream? Is this a simulation? So many questions, very few answers, unless you’re talking about the question and answers below ;)
I’m giving this week’s political rose to… AOC for going Live on IG to explain what went down with the McCarthy ouster. She did a great job of describing the different dynamics at play and obvi sharing an inside lens of what went down and why. It’s watchable here. - SK …and then I’m giving this week’s political thorn to… honestly, one is not enough. Matt Gaetz, obviously. But also Kev aka McCarthy for how many reasons under the sun?! The limit does not exist. But also Jim Jordan?! But also Trump. I guess the common denominator is that they’re all GOP men? So, give the thorn to that crew. - SK If I were to pick a Speaker of the House that’s not an elected official it would be… Michelle Obama. Next question. - SK The drink I’m pouring this wknd is… a glass of Sancerre. - SK If I were to describe this week in politics in one word… Buffoonery. - SK If you’re not following this political creator, sprint over and follow: I’ve been loving @ Kelscruss’s news breakdowns. She reads a major paper, spills the deats on the story, and provides her POV. Huge W for media literacy. - SK | I’m giving this week’s political rose to… Allie Phillips who just got into the race for TN’s HD75 [state assembly]. She’s been super brave in sharing her story and I’m really excited to see her in the race. Fingers crossed for a big win. - MM …and then I’m giving this week’s political thorn to… The GOP leadership for their petty weird office vacating drama…? It’s giving middle school? It’s giving, don't you have more important things to worry about? Such strange priorities…like idk maybe focus on funding the government? - MM If I were to pick a Speaker of the House that’s not an elected official it would be… Giselle Fetterman – she leads with kindness and we need that BADLY. - MM The drink I’m pouring this wknd is… I’ve been loving Salt Point’s Gin Highball. The can is really cool too and perf for the timing of Fat Bear Week. - MM If I were to describe this week in politics in one word… Mindfuck. - MM If you’re not following this political creator, sprint over and follow: Uly and Ernesto for all of the “maths” – naturally. This math walk-through is one of my faves. - MM |
WHAT WE’RE DMING ABOUT:
TIKTOKS WE’RE SENDING TO EACH OTHER:
Girl Math Botox Edition – it’s math we get, it’s math we do, it’s math we love.
Also on the topic of this math, this attitude adjustment that we just gave ourselves.
This verbal Eric Adams smackdown that leaves no crumbs.
The only Jack-O-Lantern on our minds, which is Lewis, who has been spotted out in the wild.
TAGGED AND FLAGGED:
Gov Clubber Rachel Davidson dropped a tag in this iconic walk-through of boy math in politics.

AN ACTION ITEM BROUGHT TO US BY THE SENATE MAJORITY PAC:
As we all know, in June 2022, SCOTUS overturned Roe v. Wade, taking away the Constitutional right to a safe abortion. Since then, over 50% of states have introduced and passed laws that restrict abortion access, from travel bans for pregnant people, to banning the abortion pill. They have also closed hundreds of clinics that provided communities with access to sexual and reproductive care. Maintaining and expanding the Democratic majority in the Senate is of critical importance in order to continue to protect the future of abortion access and women's rights. Show your support, join the fight, and protect a Democratic majority in the Senate by signing this petition.
THAT NEW NEW ON THE POD:
What is the foster care system? And who is it set up to help? Does it work? And, what about the system needs to change? Colorado State Rep. Lindsey Daughtery, who prior to her elected role worked as a guardian ad litem, walked us through all of these questions, and more. Our convo serves as a virtual tour through what the system looks like, who it leaves behind, and what improvements need to be made to protect the kids it's intended to protect – at age 18 and beyond. We look at legislation, practices, and more for an in depth look at foster care in the US. Watch the interview on YouTube:
